“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 viewers still have a handful of episodes coming before they have to say goodbye to the show’s cast. During the beginning stages of the eighth season, there was a visibly widening rift between the Salvatore brothers. Now, though, heading toward the much-awaited finale episode, Damon and Stefan will have something to bring them together.

This is a breath of fresh air for the show’s fan base, especially after Damon went over to the dark side and Stefan went through his “Stefan the Ripper” phase. The tension and brotherly conflicts that existed between them made it seem like being back to the way they were was a bit of a long shot.

A synopsis that was released by The CW revealed that Cade will soon be setting his crosshairs on Elena’s casket. To prevent the villain from harming Nina Dobrev’s character, the brothers will be working together to keep her safe.

Before the highly anticipated “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 happy ending, the brothers will have to first defeat Cade. To achieve this objective, Damon and Stefan will be teaming up with Kai - who was killed in the sixth season. Following his return to “The Vampire Diaries” storyline, he will be promising the Salvatore brothers - including Alaric - that he has the solution that will get rid of Cade.

That said, Alaric and Damon will be a bit dubious about accepting Kai’s offer of assistance. This hesitation is quite expected. After all, Jo died in his hands and he was the one who put Elena to eternal sleep. He did, however, manage to win Ian Somerhalder’s character over after he promised to bring Elena back to life.

Despite this promise, “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 viewers are expecting Kai to undo the sleeping spell in Elena as the show gets closer to its end. After all, Dobrev was only reportedly called in to return in the finale episode, “I Was Feeling Epic,” which will air on March 10, 2017.
