"Destiny 2" has been confirmed for a 2017 launch, but we've yet to get a specific month for it. Reports point to Fall 2017 (or Q3) as a general release season, which means we've got quite a bit of a wait in store. Bungie hasn't released a lot of information yet for the highly-anticipated sequel, but there's been a fair amount of speculation going on regarding the plot. Recent leaks and fan theories suggest that the Vex and the Cabal will feature prominently in "Destiny 2."

'Destiny: Vex Void' Cancelled, Remade Into Destiny 2?

Reddit user TheStormSpartan pointed out that a cut-scene montage from Prologue Studios contained some never-before-seen footage of "Vex awakening." The consensus around the community is that the cinematic shown was originally planned for the "Destiny: Vex Void" DLC that was never actually released.

Some speculate that rather than trashing "Vex Void" entirely, Activision/Bungie have instead recycled the footage and storyline as a part of "Destiny 2." The original Redditor even points out that the origin of the Vex is pretty important in Destiny lore.

Destiny Mega Construx Reveals The Cabal's Role in D2?

On February 19, Mega Construx posted a promotional image on their Twitter officially announcing the first of the Destiny Mega Construx construction set.

This particular set is the same one that went viral almost a month ago because of the supposed "Destiny 2" leak it gave away in the set description. According to Games Radar, the description for the second set (that sparked the "Destiny 2" plot assumption) details a pretty specific event that has yet to happen. It mentions a "legendary warrior" about to face his greatest contest in the Tower hangar. It also mentions Crucible Lord Shaxx wielding his "Raze Lighter" against the "ferocious cleavers of a Cabal Red Guard."

The popular theory here is a possible Cabal invasion. Given that the battle takes place at the Tower Hangar suggests an assault of some kind, but fans still aren't sure what to make of Shaxx---an NPC responsible for dishing out Crucible quests.

Previous DLC Adjusted for Destiny 2

Reddit user grabda posted an image of Bungie's initial DLC plan for "Destiny." The image, which you can view here, reveals the four planned expansions. Only "Destiny: The Dark Below" and "Destiny: House of Wolves" were released. The last two, "Vex Void" and "Forge of Gods," were scrapped.

Considering that "Destiny: Vex Void" and "Destiny: Forge of Gods" were meant for the Vex and the Cabal, respectively, incorporating or combining their DLC's into the plot for "Destiny 2" seems highly plausible.

Although Bungie has yet to confirm or deny the Destiny Mega Construx theory, it's interesting to note that they've only recently taken down the original montage featuring the Vex awakening scene, despite it being posted almost six months ago. Every subsequent reupload of the same video has been taken down due to an "Activision/Bungie" copyright claim. You can watch another version below, courtesy of YouTube user DestinyFallen.

Without official confirmation, these "Destiny 2" speculations remain exactly that; speculation. Hopefully Bungie will release more substantial information regarding the sequel in the coming months.
