'Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry' Movie Will Be Released May 6; Characters, Design Details & More

The much awaited "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" anime movie of the year will be launched on May 6. Here is what we know so far about the upcoming movie including characters, and design details among others.

Weekly Shonen Jump recently revealed a massive update on the upcoming "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" anime movie. Aside from giving the film's release date, the publication provides information about the characters, as well.

As reported by Crunchyroll, the manga and anime series creator Hiro Mashima, who sketched the storyboard, serves as the movie's executive producer. In addition, Tatsuma Minamikawa spearheads the movie's production. He is the episode director of other popular series like "Attack on Titan" and "Gate." Joining them is the series veteran Shoji Yonemura who wrote the screenplay and Yasuharu Takanashi on the music. Moreover, Yuuko Yamada, the man behind "Person 3 The Movie" handled the character designs.

"Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" anime movie's cast includes Tetsuya Kakihara as Natsu Dragneel, and Aya Hirano as Lucy Heartfilia. Other casts are Rie Kugimiya as Happy, Yuuichi Nakamura as Gray Fullbuster, and Sayaka Ohara as Erza Scarlet. Satomi Sato and Yui Horie will take the part of Wendy and Carla or Charle respectively. In addition, the characters will be seen wearing a new set of costumes in the movie.

Aside from the old familiar main characters, "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" anime movie will introduce three film original characters, says Anime News Network. In the movie, we will get to know the character Sonia, described only as a beautiful young woman. Another character that we will meet is Zach, which is described as a man who appears to be both evil and strong. Moreover, we will also get to see Animus in the movie. He is said to be a man who is dressed like a king with the expression that suggests he has an ulterior motive.
