‘God Of War 4’ Release Date: Confirmed For 2017?

Rei Lantion

During the first half of February this year, websites jumped on Christopher Judge's tweet where the actor announced himself as the official voice of Kratos. Kratos, the main protagonist of the "God of War" series, will be returning for "God of War 4." His tweet left many hopeful that fresh information would arrive soon, and it has. Despite many fans' concerns, it looks like we may be getting "God of War 4" this 2017. A recent leak from Amazon confirms this.

Amazon Poll Lists 'God of War' In Choices

According to Segment Next, the leak came in the form of a poll from Amazon. The question simply asked what game players were excited for this year, but the three options offered were what really caused the hype. "Red Dead Redemption 2," "Horizon Zero Dawn," and "God of War" were the choices listed.

Given that there hasn't been a new release for this franchise since "God of War: Ascension" back in 2013, it seems logical that "God of War 4" is what Amazon is referring to. There's yet to be any confirmation on Sony's part, but most are pretty much convinced. "Red Dead Redemption 2" is slated for a fall release and "Horizon Zero Dawn" comes out this February 28. It's possible that "God of War 4" could come late this year as well, but a release between March and November seems more likely.

'God of War 4:' What We Know So Far

Aside from the initial statement that Kratos has turned over a new leaf and is now more protective father than bloodthirsty war god, not much has been revealed about the storyline. We'll be following Kratos and his son throughout the game, and iTech Post reports brand new gameplay by way of a different combat system.

Other than that, the actual features and specific release date remain a mystery. "God of War 4" is one of Sony's flagship franchises and a Sony Exclusive. It will be released for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Pro sometime this 2017.
