‘Injustice 2’ News And Update: New Character Revealed; Doctor Fate [VIDEO]
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios just revealed their latest addition to the "Injustice 2" expanding character roster -- Doctor Fate. However, he is not as widely known as Superman or Batman but the helmet-clad magic user actually debuted way back in the 1940's. He appeared in numerous embodiments in the DC Comics universe.
"Injustice 2" designer John Edwards promises that the game will be having the largest roster of characters that they have ever done. Also, according to Edwards, Doctor Fate brings up a new level to the current lineup. They like to have characters that truly possess a lot of variety specifically in their attacks and moves, making sure that there are no one type characters. They look for characters that have distinctive powers and abilities, things that the rest of the characters in the roster don't necessarily have. Doctor Fate truly fit the part because there were no magic-based predominant spell-casters in the roster and also considering him as the most powerful magic user in the DC universe.
John Edwards provided intuitions on Doctor Fate's fighting style while in a recent preview event. He said that he will be included in the more complex characters in "Injustice 2." He does not have any strength on straight physical attacks. This means that his close combat skills will not be as good as Batman nor Black Canary. He is a range type of playstyle; he's very strong on controlling space and making sure his opponent from him. Also, he uses traps, placing them on different parts of the field which will either heal him or damage an opponent, GameSpot reported.
To further breakdown the details on Doctor Fate's unique skill build, Edwards explained one of his most creative abilities; He uses a very interesting special wherein he locks the interactables in the background to stop the enemy from using them for a short period of time. Interactables are essential in the game and to have your enemy to shut out your ability to use it can really be hard at times. This makes Doctor's Fate skill very unique. "Injustice 2" will be released on May 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.To see more of Doctor Fate, please watch the video below.
