The number of players for the popular augmented reality mobile video game, "Pokémon Go," has slowly been increasing once again thanks to Niantic Labs' latest updates. After having resolved some of the bugs that have been plaguing the game, the developer has now finally started to roll out gameplay enhancements and fan-requested features.

Niantic recently released a substantial update for "Pokémon Go," which included the addition of 80 new Pokémon. All of the new Pokémon were Generation 2 creatures that were found in the video games released after the original title. However, fans are still wondering when the game will be featuring legendary Pokémon, a feature that has been long rumored to be coming ever since the game was first released.

According to Android Authority, the long-awaited feature may be coming out very soon. The report reveals that Niantic's CEO, John Hanke, mentioned the fact himself and confirmed that the legendary Pokémon are indeed coming out for the game within the year.

During an interview with Wired, Hanke was asked if Pokémon such as Mewtwo Mew, Zapdos, Articuno or Moltres were going to be coming to "Pokémon Go" anytime soon. The CEO responded by saying that "more of that" will be coming out this year. Based on his statement, it may be safe to assume that legendary Pokémon, aside from the three legendary birds, may indeed be coming out in future updates.

Additionally, Hanke also revealed that the next big "Pokémon Go" update is going to be focusing on playing with other trainers and improving gym battles. As it stands, there isn't really much players can do in gyms within the game. However, that could change with future updates, which might add further tasks and activities within the gyms.

The CEO mentioned that they will be overhauling the gym battle element within the game as it is currently very limited. Aside from improving the gym battles in "Pokémon Go," the developers are also planning to provide bigger incentives and rewards for players to participate in the updated gym battles.
