Xbox 360 gamers everywhere finally have something to accomplish when they fire up a video game in search of Achievements. Gamers have long insisted that Gamerscores should be more than just rising numbers, and now it seems that Microsoft has been listening.

In the past, hunting Achievements and ranking up on Gamerscores was seen as a ridiculous pursuit by many gamers. Gamers would normally claim bragging rights if their Gamerscore was high enough, but outside of that, the score had little meaning. Now, Xbox 360 gamers can get something out of their years of climbing the Gamerscore ladder to greatness.

Microsoft launched an all new rewards program called MyAchievements, which allows Gamerscores to be used to obtain gaming prizes. The prizes are modest, but now gamers can get a little something on the side for all those Achievements theyhave accumulated.

"You've been faithfully building your Gamerscore for years now. To reward you for your dedication, we've created MyAchievements for Xbox LIVE Rewards Gold members. The MyAchievements level that you earn - CONTENDER, CHAMPION OR LEGEND - depends on your Gamerscore. The higher your score, the bigger the reward!"

To get started, players must be Xbox Live Gold Members, then sign up for the rewards program.

To begin earning rewards, players need a minimum Gamescore of 3000. Gamers who have reached that milestore will then be considered CONTENDERS. These gamers will receive a birthday gift which will retail for around $0.25.

The next level, which Microsoft calls CHAMPION, requires a minimum Gamescore of 10,000 Gamerscores, a truly difficult feat to accomplish. At this level, gamers earn a birthday gift every year plus a 1% rebate on Xbox Live Marketplace purchases.

With a minimum Gamescore of 25,000, the LEGEND level gets a birthday gift every year along with 2% rebate on any Xbox Live Marketplace purchase. A Gamescore of 25,000 would take more than a year of playing and thousands of dollars spent on video games.

In light of the amount of gaming one has to do for these small rewards, many gamers wonder if it is worth the time and effort of signing up. Gamers who have already accumulated these numbers will automatically qualify, which leaves everyone else with a lot of work to do.
