iPhone 5 vs. HTC One X+: Specs Shootout

The Taiwanese phone maker HTC announced its flagship smartphone One X+ on Oct. 2. It remains to be seen if HTC can oust the iPhone 5. Here is a comparison of the features and specifications  of the HTC One X+ and the iPhone 5.

Processor
The iPhone 5 features an upgraded Apple A6 SoC processor, which Apple suggests will double the CPU performance when compared to its previous iterations. A 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor powers the One X+ which HTC claims is 67% faster than its predecessor.

Display
The HTC One X+ sports a 4.7-inch Super LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution at 312ppi, and Gorilla Glass 2. On the other hand iPhone 5 features 4-inch Retina display with 1136 x 640 resolution at 326 ppi, and the Multi-Touch IPS technology screen has a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating."

Weight, Thickness, and Body
The iPhone 5 is entirely made out of glass and aluminum. iPhone 5 measures 0.30 inch in thickness and weighs 3.95 ounces and is slightly thinner than the One X+, which measures 0.35 inch. The HTC's polycarbonate unibody weighs 4.76 ounces with battery, which makes it a bit heavier than the iPhone 5.

Storage
The iPhone 5 is available in 16/32/64 GB internal storage versions. The HTC One X+ is offered with 64GB on-board storage option and 25GB of Dropbox storage. Neither handset offers an option to expand the memory using a microSD card.

Operating System
iPhone 5 runs on the latest iOS 6 operating system, whereas, the One X+ runs on the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) platform.

Camera
The iPhone 5 sports an 8-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera with Autofocus and LED flash and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The HTC One X+ also has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera but the device has an improved 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera.

Battery
The latest One X+ touts a powerful 2100mAh battery, which HTC claims will provide 50 percent more talk time when compared to its predecessor. iPhone 5 on the other hand has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Apple claims eight hours of talk time on 3G network.
