Call of Duty games are an annually-released title and, therefore, the reports that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is being developed by Infinity Ward for a 2013 release date comes as no surprise. The big question is whether this game will launch on the Xbox 720 or current generation consoles.

The reports claim that Activision has begun voiceover work on a Call of Duty game dubbed "Call of Duty 2013." What's interesting about this is the game's story is being told within the Modern Warfare universe, so no doubt this title is Modern Warfare 4 or Modern Warfare something.
Siliconera describes the main character as a person who is war veteran in his mid-30s with a point of view that is nihilistic. No word if Captain Price or any other character from the Modern Warfare story will feature in the game or what the game's storyline is about. Since the death of Makarov in Modern Warfare 3, it is clear that trilogy has ended, and only a completely new story would make any form of sense in Modern Warfare 4.
Bill Muray, a voice actor, was quoted as saying that he was already doing voiceover work for a Call of Duty game in the Modern Warfare series.
"Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, 'Modern Warfare 4,' I'm doing work on the sequel to 'Modern Warfare 3,' it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games," noted Murray.
With rumors of the Microsoft Xbox 720 aiming for a 2013 release date, it could be highly possible for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to release on that console, perhaps even be a launch title. That isn't too farfetched, comsidering that come Nov. 18, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is a launch title for the Nintendo Wii U.
