Sony's Xperia is back in news, and this time it's the Sony Xperia V getting some official information.
Per reports, Sony France has recently revealed via Twitter that the company will be launching the Sony Xperia V in March. This is a new date after the company earlier promised that the device will be arriving in stores by January this year.
Sony Mobile France confirmed that the handset is still planned to launch, although the date has slipped to March. It also appears, as far as the tweet is concerned, that the Xperia V will be on sale exclusively through Sony Mobile's official e-shop, and this suggests a limited launch of the device.
"Xperia V: sortie prévue en France courant mars. Vente privée exclusive sur notre e-shop, plus d'infos fin février," the company wrote on its official page.
The translation says that Sony France will make the device available for public in March with exclusive private sale happening on the company's e-shop. More information on this matter has also been promised later this month.
The new decision by the company is hardly surprising bearing in mind that the Xperia Z (model C6603) is set to launch in France towards the end of February. Sony, anyway, has already started preparing for the launch of the Sony Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL.
"There is no doubt that the Xperia V is an excellent phone, but the phone was released in other European markets in early December. We do question whether it is really worth Sony's effort in releasing the phone three months later, especially given that the new flagship is around the corner," Xperia Blog writes.
As far as device specifications are concerned, the Xperia V currently sports 4.3-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution, a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera, alongside a 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera, Android 4.0.4 out of the box, with the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean already available in other countries.
There's a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable via microSD up to 32GB, and a 1,750mAh battery.
The device is also water resistant.
