ASUS Transformer Pad 300 Gets Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

The ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T is now the world's first partnered tablet to get the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, says the company.

ASUS just announced it is rolling out an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T in the U.S., with other countries to follow afterward.

"Android 4.2 update is out for ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T in the United States. Other countries to follow next week," reads a post on the company's Facebook page on Monday, March 4. "This new version of Android enhances performance and stability, as well as provide multiple user account logins along with other functions that improve the user experience."

The update is over-the-air, which means that users should see it appear either in the settings or as a notification as Asus rolls it out. The ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T will now be able to sport all of the Android 4.2 features, along with a number of stability and performance enhancements ASUS added with the OS update.

Other than the usual bug fixes, performance improvements and some must-have features, only the tablet version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean includes the support for multiple user account logins that ASUS mentions.

Other ASUS tablets such as the Transformer Pad Infinity, MeMO Pad Smart 10 and MeMO Pad are set to receive the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update sometime in the second quarter of this year.

Two of the most exciting features of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS are the ability to log in with multiple user accounts (again, exclusively for tablets) and Photosphere, a 360-degree panorama capture option in the stock Android Camera app. While ASUS already touted the multiple accounts log-in, it remains uncertain whether the ASUS 4.2 update will bring PhotoSphere as well.

Meanwhile, ASUS is also updating its own App Locker, Virtual Keyboard, Setup Wizard and Lock Screen to provide a better user experience. Those who don't live in the U.S. will get the update sometime next week, according to ASUS, but the exact date is not clear at this point.
