Marvel Now Offering 700 First-Issue Digital Comics For Free

Here's some good news for all those who enjoy their daily dose of comics or are ardent comic book collectors.

Per reports, popular comic book publishing company Marvel has announced that it is giving away digital versions of over 700 of its first-issue comics, both via the browser-based Marvel Digital Comics Shop, and also the official mobile app.

Marvel Comics has brought forward Marvel #1, an offering of over 700 first issues from the archives of the company's history at no charge. It has also been confirmed that this special promotion has already begun on Sunday, March 10 and runs until 11PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, March 12 as free downloads via the Marvel Comics app and Marvel Comics Digital Comics Shop.

"This is the perfect way to show everyone how much we believe in our material by letting them try the first issues for free, because we're sure once they start, they won't stop," says Marvel Senior Vice President of Sales, Digital and Print David Gabriel. "Week in and week out we ask fans to come check out our new releases-both in print and digitally-with the promise that we'll bring them the best comics made by the best talent and managed by the best editorial team in the industry. Now, existing and news fans [alike] can discover the heroes they know and love and learn about new ones all at the same time."

The company assures that through Marvel #1, fans will witness the beginnings well-known characters like the Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man, all the way to the new superstars like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos, Iron Fist and more.

The creators featured via this new offer include names such as Joss Whedon, Stan Lee, Jeph Loeb, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Kevin Smith, Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brubaker, Jason Aaron, and Chris Claremont.

It was also stated that the main intention of Marvel #1 is to invite new readers to the medium via the unmatched reach of digital comics. Moreover, as of now, no other comic book company has offered this much free content in a single promotion while covering such a wide variety of characters and creators.

The fact that this is such an interesting and attractive giveaway is because these books ordinarily run from $1.99 to $3.99 a piece.
