Sony seems to have another Android smartphone in the works: the Sony Xperia A, codenamed "Dogo," which is reportedly set to launch sometime this summer.

The Sony Xperia Z got plenty of attention, but now rumors are swirling around a new exciting leak heralding a new Android powerhouse from Sony. The Sony Xperia A allegedly features a 4.6-inch display, possibly with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, but that's not all. The smartphone would also pack a powerful Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM under the hood.

Other rumored specs of the Sony Xperia A are no less impressive: 32GB of built-in storage, a 2300mAh battery, as well as Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities. Rumors also indicate the handset will be water- and dustproof just like its Xperia Z sibling. The smartphone will allegedly pack a 1Seg TV tuner as well, so it might be Japan-bound.

According to Ubergizmo, Sony is not only working on this Xperia A smartphone, but also on a Sony Xperia UL, also known as the "Gaga." The Xperia UL will allegedly arrive as a smartphone similar to the Xperia ZL, but packing a Qualcomm 600 processor instead of the ZL's Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro.

Ubergizmo further mentions a rumored "phablet" device known as the Togari, bound to launch in Japan on DoCoMo. This device will reportedly sport a massive 6.4-inch display with a 1080p resolution, which would indicate that Sony aims to challenge the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

While these rumors are not official nor confirmed, they point to great things for Sony and consumers alike. The smartphone market is getting increasingly tougher and competitive by the minute, and current flagships are now more powerful than ever. Samsung and Apple might rule the market, but Sony continues to fight for relevancy with its new line of devices.

Should the rumored specs of the Sony Xperia A prove to be accurate, Sony would have another powerhouse to help it compete with Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy S4, the HTC One, and other powerful handsets making their way to the market. If it sports a competitive price tag, the Sony Xperia A would definitely make some waves.
