Gameloft sale of Xbox games on Windows Phone till June 25

Vamien McKalin

Gameloft is providing Windows Phone 8 fans with a discount on many of its games. Some of these titles are as lows as $0.99, and many offers the choice to collect Xbox Live achievements for those who are obsessed with doing so.

During the sales period, around 10 Xbox Live titles from Gameloft will be available at up to 67 percent off. The games include Brain Challenge HD, Splinter Cell Conviction, and The Oregon Trail HD are available at $1.99. Golf 2, UNO, and Assassin's Creed - Altaïr's Chronicles HD, are also available at $1.99.

Furthermore, The Amazing SpiderMan and The Dark Knight Rises, also included in the promotion, are now available at only $2.99. Also, Real Soccer and Asphalt 5, which are priced at only $0.99, are a complete steal, because the sales period comes to an abrupt end come June 25. It is likely another Gameloft sale like this won't come around until the holidays, and you might be too busy then to download video games.

Despite being deeply associated with the Xbox brand, the Windows Phone platform is not known for having exceptional video game titles that may set the platform apart from the competition. It's quite a disappointment and Microsoft should put more focus on creating interesting original titles for Windows Phone 8 to get Xbox fans interested in purchasing a handset.

With the coming of Halo: Spartan Assault, it seems Microsoft is making the right choices. Unfortunately, the game is not exclusive to Windows Phone 8 and will also be coming to Windows 8. The game will cost $6.99 and will also see some integration with Halo 4, though it is not sure on what level this integration is done and if there are any meaningful Achievements to get from this.
