Samsung will reportedly unleash both its Galaxy Note 3 phablet and its much-rumored Gear smartwatch at its Unpacked event on Sept. 4.

The Samsung Gear smartwatch has been making rounds for quite some time, with various rumors and speculations trying to paint a picture of what to expect. The smartwatch market is expected to boom this year and heavyweight players are expected to take a plunge in this field soon.

While Samsung has not officially confirmed the specs of its Gear smartwatch nor has it offered any details about the actual launch date or price tag, SamMobile now claims to have confirmation that the gadget will finally make its debut at the Samsung Unpacked event set for Sept. 4.

The big battle now comes down to which company manages to get their smartwatch on the market first. Sony has already announced its SmartWatch 2 and between Apple and Samsung, the latter seems to have won the race.

"Now we can confirm that Samsung will indeed unveil the Galaxy Gear smartwatch on the same day it takes the wraps off its third-generation Galaxy Note," reports SamMobile.

"The Galaxy Gear (SM-V700) will act as a companion accessory for Samsung's Galaxy phones, and while no one knows what it will look like (though patent filings give us a pretty good idea), it might possibly have a flexible display."

Samsung said back in March that it was working on a smartwatch that would take on the Pebble as well as the rumored Apple iWatch. That was the first time that the company confirmed its smartwatch, but it did not offer any additional details. SamMobile has also published a prototype design of the purported Samsung Gear smartwatch based on patent filings.

When it comes to the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3, many fans feel that the phablet could not launch soon enough. The next-generation Galaxy Note is one of the most anticipated devices of this year and it is expected to launch as a high-end device ready to take on competing phablets such as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the rumored HTC Max and others.

With Sept. 4 just around the corner, more details about the upcoming Samsung Gear and Galaxy Note 3 will likely emerge soon enough. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
