Sony just posted its first official teaser image of the Honami Xperia Z1 yesterday, and now the company has followed up with a second photo of the handset.
The upcoming Sony Honami, reportedly set to launch as the Xperia Z1, has been making rounds recently with various rumors, speculations and leaked images. Sony has apparently decided to boost anticipation itself and join the band wagon with some teaser images of its own.
After releasing the first official teaser image for its upcoming flagship, Sony has now posted a second photo, this time more revealing. The new image shows a handset dipped in water, suggesting that the new Honami Xperia Z1 will be a waterproof smartphone just like the other handsets in Sony's Xperia Z range.
The Sony Honami will launch as the company's new flagship smartphone and will boast a 5-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080p), the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and 2GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly.
Other rumored specs of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z1, aka Honami, include a 20-megapixel Sony Exmor RS camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing Sony Exmor R shooter. The 20-megapixel rear camera will reportedly be the main feature of the smartphone and will aim to challenge Nokia's new 41-megapixel Lumia 1020 cameraphone.
The new Sony Honami Xperia Z1 smartphone will also come with 16GB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB. The handset will come running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with a later update to the latest Android 4.3 expected shortly after.
Sony will officially unveil its brand new Honami Xperia Z1 smartphone at the company's IFA press event in Berlin next month, on Sept. 4. That is the same date that Samsung will make its new Galaxy Note 3 phablet official, along with the much-rumored Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
With such big launches on the same date, the IFA 2013 trade show is already shaping up to be an exciting event. The Sony Honami Xperia Z1 is "about to make a splash" soon enough.
