Nokia's Amber update will reach all Lumia devices by the end of next month, but apparently not all features will be available to all handsets.
The company's upcoming Amber update is set to bring several new features and improvements. All Lumia devices should get the same features, but there are a few exceptions.
The Lumia 620, for instance, was announced to skip the FM Radio feature because it's hardware could not support it. As it turns out, that is not the only handset and the only unsupported feature.
The Double Tap to unlock feature will reportedly skip a few devices as well, including the Lumia 520, Lumia 521, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720. Moreover, the Lumia 620 will not be the only device left without an FM Radio, as the Lumia 928 and Lumia 810 will not get support for this feature either. The news comes from a legitimate source, as a Nokia Community Manager posted the information on the company's Community Forums.
In addition to Microsoft's new GDR update, Nokia's Amber update is expected to bring a number of neat new features, including improvements to Xbox Music, Nokia Smart Camera, Internet Explorer and more. The Amber update is also set to add enhanced image processing to Lumia smartphones, improving the experience with better noise reduction, color reproduction, autofocus and exposure control.
In other words, here's what the upcoming Nokia Amber update will not bring for some devices: the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Luia 720 will not get the Double Tap to unlock feature. The Lumia 620, Lumia 810 and Lumia 928, meanwhile, will not get to enjoy that FM Radio support.
The new FM Radio the Amber update will bring will be available only for the Lumia 520, Lumia 521, Lumia 720, Lumia 820, Lumia 920 and Lumia 925. Based on the news shared on Nokia's Community Forums, it seems that the Lumia 620 will be the most affected, as this handset will not benefit from any of the major features the Nokia Amber update has to offer. The rest of the Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia Lumia handsets should get noticeable changes and neat new features.
