A Mophie Juice Pack is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S4, aiming to extend the smartphone's battery life so users can enjoy it for longer.

Phones have undoubtedly come a long way and now serve for much more than just calling and texting. Smartphones nowadays are real powerhouses, but the increasingly bigger displays and powerful internals take a toll on battery life. Most smartphones barely last for a full day on a single charge, but separate battery packs aim to offer an alternative.

Users struggling to get a full day of use out of their Samsung Galaxy S4 can now get the recently-released Mophie Juice Pack for the handset. Mophie has previously released similar Juice Packs for the HTC One and last year's Samsung Galaxy S3 flagship and the company is very well-regarded for its high-quality extended battery cases.

The Mophie Juice Pack for the Samsung Galaxy S4 offers a 2,300 mAh battery backup to support the 2,600 mAh battery of a handset. Moreover, the Juice Pack also serves double duty, as it is also a protective case.

Extended battery cases usually come with plenty of power and the Mophie Juice Pack is no exception, promising to boost the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy S4 by up to 80 percent. This means 13 hours of talk time, 35 hours of audio playback, 6 hours of browsing and 7 hours of video playback.

Mophie has also thought of another neat feature: users will be able to charge both their smartphone battery and the battery case with a single micro USB cable. The Mophie Juice Pack case allows easy access to all ports, speakers and controls, and it also sports a four-LED indicator to show the status of the backup battery.

On the other hand, this extended battery case does not come very cheap. The Mophie Juice Pack costs $99.95, i.e. roughly half of the handset's price on contract. Galaxy S4 users looking to extend their smartphone's battery life while also getting a stylish case, however, may find this offer quite attractive.
