Amazon has updated its Kindle Fire tablet family, introducing a new Kindle Fire HD 7" and two new Kindle Fire HDX tablets.

The retailer's new lineup sports impressive upgrades over the previous tablets. The new slates are expected to continue challenging the slew of Android tablets available on the market and sport attractive pricing, especially when compared to the specs the devices have to offer.

New Kindle Fire HD

The cheapest member of Amazon's new family of devices is the Kindle Fire HD, which now comes to replace the old Kindle Fire. Not only does the new iteration sport improved specifications, but it also comes at an even lower price point than its predecessor.

For just $139, the new Kindle Fire HD will sport a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and will pack a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. It comes in two available storage configurations: 8GB (5.1GB of which will be actually available to the user) and 16GB (with 12.2GB available to the user).

Other specs of the new Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and USB 2.0. The tablet measures 7.5 x 5.0 x 0.42 inches (191 x 128 x 10.6 mm) and weighs in at 12.2 ounces (345 grams). Find the new Kindle Fire HD at this link.

New Kindle Fire HDX 7"

The new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7", meanwhile, will come to replace the old Kindle Fire HD 7". This model will have a $229 starting price and will sport a 7-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. The 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage configurations.

The 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX will also feature a front-facing HD camera, optional LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, and Wi-fi a/b/g/n. In terms of dimensions, the tablet measures 7.3 x 5.0 x 0.35 inches (186 x 128 x 9.0 mm). The Wi-Fi version weighs in at 10.7 ounces (303 grams), while the 4G LTE + Wi-Fi model weighs 11.0 ounces (311 grams). Check it out here for more details or to place your pre-order.

New Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"

The larger, 8.9-inch model of the Kindle Fire HDC starts at $379 and has similar specs to the 7-inch HDX model. It does boast, however, a higher-resolution 2560 x 1600 display and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Kindle Fire HD 8.9" will launch on Nov. 7, with the 4G LTE version set to arrive later, on Dec. 10. Interested customers can pre-order it now at this link.
