Sprint HTC One Max up for pre-order for $249.99, launches on Nov. 15

HTC officially announced its One Max handset back in October and now we have some details about the device's launch on Sprint's network.

Despite the HTC One Max being official, U.S. carriers have yet to announce their launch dates for HTC's new Android phablet. AT&T and Verizon are both expected to carry the handset soon, but now some details have surfaced regarding Sprint's plans to launch the HTC One Max.

As it turns out, Sprint may be the first U.S. carrier to start selling the device, as a Best Buy pre-order page for the Sprint HTC One Max lists a launch date of Nov. 15. The super-sized smartphone is available for pre-order with a $249.99 price tag on a new contract with Sprint.

On the other hand, Sprint has yet to announce its launch plans for the HTC One Max, which means there are two possibilities. Either Best Buy spilled the beans prematurely and listed the Nov. 15 launch date before Sprint got to officially announce it, or the retailer just offered an estimate launch date for when pre-orders would ship to customers.

The first theory seems more plausible, however, considering that Sprint's support page for the HTC One Max notes the initial software release will become available on Nov. 15. If that is the phone's launch date as well, an official announcement should follow shortly.

As a reminder, the new HTC One Max boasts a massive 5.9-inch 1080p Super LCD3 display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.5 on top. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS.

Other features include HTC's UltraPixel camera, as well as the popular BoomSound and BlinkFeed. A powerful 3,300 mAh battery will keep things up and running, offering roughly 25 hours of talk time. While the HTC One Max comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, it is expected to receive an update to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future.

As previously mentioned, Best Buy is currently taking pre-orders for the HTC One Max for $249.99 with a new two-year service agreement with Sprint, or a $749.99 off-contract price.
