CES 2014: Meet 'the incredible, affordable' Dell 28 Ultra HD monitor P2815Q priced at $699

Dell has announced a new 4K desktop monitor at CES 2014. The new Dell P2815Q boasts an Ultra HD resolution of 3850 x 2160 and will hit retail soon.

Compared to other 4K monitors Dell has launched last year, the new Dell 28 Ultra HD desktop monitor will sport a more affordable price tag when it launches later this month. The P2815Q will launch on Jan. 23 retail for a lower $699.

"The P2815Q will have a full 3840 x 2160 resolution and launch globally on January 23. Dell hasn't yet discussed things like refresh rate or range of inputs (I'm sure DisplayPort is a given), but they do promise the same 'screen performance' as the new UltraSharp 32 and UltraSharp 24 Ultra HD monitors," points out Forbes. "That's certainly encouraging since their UltraSharp line is normally a cut above when it comes to professional displays."

"The monitor will even include the ability to pivot to portrait mode as well as a range of adjustable viewing heights and angles. They'll be selling accessories too, like a stereo sound bar and monitor arm."

The new Dell P2815Q boasts a 28-inch Ultra HD (4K) display and offers several connectivity options, including HDMI, DisplayPort, mini-DisplayPort, four USB 3.0 ports, as well as a 6-in-1 media card reader.

While Dell's previous 32-inch UP3214Q and 24-inch UP2414Q cost a whopping $3,500 and $1,300, respectively, the new P2815Q is more consumer-focused and aims to be far more affordable at $699.

According to Dell, its new budget-friendly 4K monitor is designed to deliver the same screen performance as its UltraSharp models, but at a much lower price tag. The CES 2014 trade show this week has also seen several other budget 4K monitors on display, as both Lenovo and Acer are launching their own offerings that will cost $799.

So far, the new Dell P2815Q 4K desktop monitor is the most budget-friendly model to be announced at CES 2014, as it sports the lowest price tag. As previously mentioned, this model will launch in the U.S. and globally later this month, on Jan. 23.
