The yet-to-be-announced iPhone 6 has been making headlines on a regular basis lately and some images now claim to show the smartphone prototype.
Apple is widely expected to release its next-generation iPhone with a larger display. As usual with highly-anticipated devices from heavyweight companies, the iPhone 6 has starred in a slew of leaks, rumors, concepts and reports, all trying to paint a picture of what to expect.
Some new images have now popped up online claiming to show the iPhone 6, but their authenticity is questionable. According to MacRumors, an unknown Twitter user posted the images, but Australian writer Sony Dickinson later told the publication that the images were actually first shared by someone in China, who claimed that they depicted the iPhone 6.
The images supposedly show the body of the iPhone 6. The smartphone seems to have virtually no bezels around the display, which falls in line with previous rumors. Just recently we reported on some news from the Korean media, which claimed that both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 6 would launch with bezel-free displays and integrated fingerprint scanners.
With so many alleged leaks surrounding the iPhone 6, it's tough to determine which are real and which are not, and many usually turn out to be fake. That said, take these leaked images with a grain of salt, as they may not be the real deal. These newly-leaked iPhone 6 images may be either photos of an early prototype of the device, or some good Photoshop work. It's worth noting, however, that similar images emerged for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C before the smartphones made their official debut.
The purported iPhone 6 in these images seems to have a 4.7-inch display, which is one of the sizes rumored for the handset. Apple's next-generation flagship smartphone is expected to come in two variants - one with a 4.7-inch screen and another with a larger 5.5-inch display. Other rumors, meanwhile, have suggested that the iPhone 6 will be thinner and lighter due to new LED technology, but this remains unconfirmed as well at this point.
As previously mentioned, there's a good chance that these images turn out to be fake, so take this leak with a healthy dose of skepticism. If Apple follows its previous launch schedule, the iPhone 6 isn't due for a few months, which means that it's a bit early to know just how the smartphone will ultimately look like.
