Samsung has just provided a full list of devices that are set to get an update to the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat in the U.S.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat will begin its journey to select Samsung devices on Tuesday, Feb. 18, rolling out gradually to several smartphones and tablets. The list of devices set to get the very latest version of Android doesn't really bring any surprises, but it does add official confirmation from Samsung itself.

Samsung Galaxy devices in the U.S. that are currently scheduled to receive the KitKat update include select carrier variants of:

  • Galaxy Note 3
  • Galaxy Note 2
  • Galaxy S4
  • Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Galaxy S4 Active
  • Galaxy S4 Zoom
  • Galaxy S3
  • Galaxy S3 Mini
  • Galaxy Mega
  • Galaxy Light
  • Galaxy Note 8.0
  • Galaxy Tab 3
  • Galaxy Note 10.1
  • Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition

"Availability varies by carrier and product, with updates beginning today and continuing throughout the coming months," Samsung states in a press release issued to the media.

"The upgrade provides a number of innovative, easy-to-use features that enhance the user experience, including a more intuitive user interface, enhanced messaging capabilities and updated applications.

As expected, the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will bring a number of notable improvements to the table, so here are the most significant ones, as listed in the press release.

  • Location Menu: This feature consists of an integrated location menu that will enable users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks, while being able to check at the same time just how much battery is necessary for apps running location services capabilities.
  • Enhanced Messaging: This feature allows users to choose between Messages or Hangouts as their preferred messaging application. Moreover, a larger array of updated Emoji icons is also available.
  • Upgraded Google Mobile Service (GMS) Apps: With this update, users will be able to automatically back up photos and videos, as well as open, view, rename, and share Google Docs and files.

While the list of devices currently set to get Android 4.4.2 KitKat is quite extensive, it doesn't rule out the possibility of other devices getting the upgrade as well in the future.

U.S. owners of one of the devices on the list can start keeping an eye out for update notifications, as Android 4.4.2 KitKat may roll out any day now. For more details regarding the goodies KitKat will bring to your Samsung device, check out this post buried deep in Samsung's website.
