Google Now Chrome notifications bring relevant updates to your desktop

Google Now is ready to hit the Chrome browser on laptops and desktop PCs as well, bringing the same card interface found on Android smartphones.

The service has quickly become very popular among Android users, as most people find it extremely useful. In a nutshell, Google Now features a card interface that displays relevant information when users need them. Such cards include various bits of information, with notifications about the weather, traffic, scheduled flights, and more, depending on the user's settings and preferences.

Following its great success on Android devices, Google Now is ready to broaden its horizons and expand its reach to the desktop as well through the Chrome browser, allowing more users to enjoy its neat features.

"Starting today and rolling out over the next few weeks, Google Now notifications will be available to Chrome users on their desktop or laptop computers," the company announced via a post on its Google Chrome Google+ account. "To enable this feature, simply sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account you're using for Google Now on Android or iOS."

Google Now cards in the Chrome browser will be very similar to those on Android smartphones, offering users relevant information on weather, sports, traffic, flights, event reminders, and much more.

The company also notes that Google Now on Chrome will show a subset of the cards seen on the user's mobile device, some of which will use their device's location. Those who turn Google Now on, on multiple devices, will have to manage their location settings for each device independently. Location-based Google Now Cards on desktop will only appear for devices that have Location Reporting turned on.

To turn off Google Now notifications in Chrome, Windows users can click the bell icon located in the lower right corner of their computer screen to access the Chrome Notifications Center. Mac users will find it in the upper right corner. From this panel, all you need to do to turn off notifications is click the gear icon for settings and uncheck the box corresponding to Google Now.
