Nokia confirms to unveil OZO next month

A lot of buzz has been going on about Nokia's comeback. The major comeback is expected once they have officially unveiled the talked about Nokia OZO. Nokia OZO is Nokia's latest product which features virtual reality camera that is designed for professional creators and storytellers.

Nokia announced earlier that OZO, which is the first ever commercially available virtual reality camera, is just the first in a planned digital media solutions portfolio from Nokia Technologies. Nokia recently gave an update and announced that yes, next month, specifically November 30, OZO will be launched.

According to Nokia Technologies president Ramzi Hidamus, Nokia is thrilled to be introducing OZO to the content creation world. The release of OZO will also completely define a new category of VR capture and playback solutions. Hidamus adds that Nokia OZO aims to advance the next wave of innovation in virtual reality by placing tools in the hands of professionals who will be able to create amazing experiences for people all over the world.

Nokia expects that VR experiences will soon be changing how people communicate and connect to the world, to information throughout the world and to each other. Using OZO, Nokia Technologies plan to be at the very core of the new world, aiming to set a new standard for professional capture, editing and playback of cinematic virtual reality contents.

OZO was first seen at an industry event in Los Angeles. It was conceived and expected to be manufactured at the company's facility in Tampere, Finland. Among the other things, Nokia OZO's notable feature is capturing stereoscopic 3D video through eight synchronized global shutter sensors with a spatial audio using eight integrated microphones. OZO's software also enables real-time 3D viewing plus a playback solution removing the need to pre-assemble panoramic images, which could be time consuming.

Nokia OZO's filmed content can also be published for commercially available virtual reality viewing hardware like HMDs or head mounted displays. It comes with a spatially accurate original sound and an immersive full 360 degree imaging. OZO is also compatible with existing professional workflows and can be adapted with third-party tools which completely simplifies content production at all stages.
