A Canadian company has just unveiled a tech gadget that will literally make a user's home "smart." The tech start-up, Tailwind, announced that their product will be the multi-use Tailwind iQ3 smart module. This gadget will enable users to use their smartphones or even other smart devices like Apple Watch to control and monitor their gas fireplaces, garage doors, pool heaters, security systems, sprinklers for irrigation, sump pump water levels and more for a cost of $33 CAD.

This device can notify the user if their home alarm system goes off while they are away with no monthly charges and at the same time, function as a security system for garages and sheds. It can monitor and control up to three garage doors for up to 80% less than what competing products offer. The device can also control a gas fireplace and the pool heater without needing any special hub or other control systems. A second Tailwind iQ3 device can be placed by the user's night table to alert them of any problems, if they happen to have the habit of turning off their smartphones at night.

Tailwind president Scott Riesebosch said that there will be no other product comparable to what their device can do and there are also no platforms, so far, that is as cost efficient to operate. Riesebosch also said that these smart modules will manage to disrupt many markets as they can do so much more at a lower cost than those solutions that are currently out.

The device is carefully designed from start to completion to drive the public to mass adopt the concept of smart home technology. It does so by addressing the top 3 challenges that the Smart Home Industry currently faces which are cost, complexity, and industry standardization. It is easy to set up, affordable, has a unique multi-use module and a patent pending networking code that can extend its range. It can also operate without a special hub and continue to work even if the user's home Wi-Fi is down.

The Tailwind project is now currently live in Kickstarter with the goal of raising $125,000 CAD. Backers of the said project will be able to purchase their own device at an early bird price of $33 CAD or $25 USD. The expected delivery date of the gadget would be March 2016 to anywhere in the world. So far they have a total of 15 backers already for their early bird option.

Tailwind is a start-up technology company that is based in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Their primary business activities include design and manufacturing of wirelessly connected products serving the customers, industrial and commercial markets
