Dec 21, 2015 08:17 PM EST

The end of 2015 is near, and as always Google has released its top search list from its users across the globe. The results were sifted through and compiled from around 1.2 trillion searches made by consumers within a span of one year. Each year the tech giant does this. This year's list might come out as expected and surprising for some. Let's take a look at the list for 2015.

This year, the search engine's list was topped by former professional basketball player and Los Angeles member Lamar Odom. The second most searched is Charlie Hebdo, who was shot into limelight this January after their headquarters were attacked and gunned by members of ISIS. Support coming from users across the globe came and made the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie a trending topic on Twitter.

The third on the most-searched list is Agar.io, a multiplayer game made by Matheus Valadares. This topic might be a surprise to some as it was thought of as being unpopular, but the results beg to differ. The fourth one and probably one of the topics expected to be on this year's list is the science fiction and adventure film "Jurassic World." The fourth installment of the "Jurassic Park" series was released on June 10 in over 60 countries.

The film has a record-breaking opening weekend gross of $500 million USD worldwide. "Jurassic World" managed to be the third-highest grossing film of all time with over $1.6 billion USD box office revenue. It has drawn both positive and negative reviews from film critics and is so far the highest-grossing film of this year.

The fifth most-searched topic or word is Paris, following a series of terrorist attacks that happened this Nov. 13 in the capital of France. The attack made by ISIS left several people dead and injured. It has also left some fearing for their lives during those dark days, but support poured in from all over the world.

The sixth item on this list is the action movie "Furious 7," the seventh of its installment, which premiered on April 1, 2 and 3 at Los Angeles, Australia and the US, respectively. It has grossed $397.6 million USD in its first five days of release, making this movie gain the third-highest grossing opening of all time. It has grossed a total of $1.5 billion USD worldwide, which makes it the highest-grossing film of the series and the second-highest grossing film of this year, next to "Jurassic World."

The seventh popular search is the role-playing game "Fallout 4," which was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is the fifth installment of this series and was released worldwide on Nov. 10. The next term or rather next person to be searched is the MMA, judoka and actress Ronda Jean Rousey. Rousey has been ranked the most dominant active athlete by two magazines, has been voted as Best Female Athlete ever on ESPN poll and has revealed that she is currently the highest paid fighter of UFC. She has been seen in movies like "The Expendables 3," "Furious 7" and "Entourage."

The second to the last item on this year's top ten list is Caitlyn Marie Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner. Jenner is a television personality and a retired Olympic decathlon champion. She made it to the peoples' search list after revealing being a transgender in April and publicly announcing her change of name. Because of the recent events, Jenner has been called the most famous openly transgender woman in the world.

The last on Google's top ten list is the biographical war film "American Sniper." It world premiered on Nov. 11, 2014, at the American film Institute Festival, with a limited theatrical release on Dec. 25 and a wide release last Jan. 16. The movie has gained a major success with a worldwide gross of over $547 million USD, making it the highest-grossing film of 2014 in the US. It is also the highest grossing war film of all time and also Clint Eastwood's highest-grossing film to date. Eastwood is the director of the said movie.
