NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Kevin Love Off To Free Agency As Cleveland Cavaliers Eye Charlotte Hornets' Nicolas Batum?

Jun 28, 2016 06:58 AM EDT

The Cleveland Cavaliers might think of trading their star player Kevin Love for Charlotte Hornets' Nicolas Batum. There are trade rumors circulating that Love would be traded to free agency just to accommodate another free agent i.e. the Hornets star player.

Cleveland reported that the Cavaliers are very much keen to bring in Batum for his excellent performance in the latest basketball season. The team is stated to be impressed with Nicolas's versatility during the game as he can play shooting guard as well as the small forward.

According to ESPN's Ian Begley, the Cavaliers are thinking to do some major changes in their game line-up this season, which has surfaced the possibility that they might opt for free agent, Batum, who has 15 PPG, 5.7 rebounds per game and 6 APG.

ESPN reported that trading Love for Nicolas would help the Cleveland team to deal with the issues like limited financial flexibility and the upcoming resignation from J.R. Smith. The trade rumors suggest that Cavaliers will try to strike a deal with the Hornets' player by offering him less money with an assured shot at a championship.

On the other hand, the rumors of Kevin being on the trading block emerged after his poor performance in the recent NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Even though there are trade rumors involving Kevin Love, Cleveland Cavaliers insiders claimed that he is not going anywhere.

The Bit Bag reported that the team's manager, David Griffin, said that he is a valuable asset to the team and would not be traded this season.

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics are rumored to be eager to trade their point guard Avery Bradley to Cavaliers in exchange for Kevin Love, reported USA Today. Whether the Cleveland team has given a thought to the trade possibility is not known, as they are not quite in need of a point guard at this point in time.

Kevin Love's fate will be fully revealed in the free agent trade rounds start on July 1.
