'Dead Rising 4' 'Frank Rising' DLC Featuring Time Limit Mechanic To Return, But As A Paid Extra

Fans of the zombie-hoard feast "Dead Rising 4" can be excited with the return of a key feature the previous games. But will a paid DLC justify this? Capcom and Microsoft finally revealed the contents for the season pass.

The original plan for "Dead Rising 4" was doing away with the game's timer restrictions. The first game had this feature, which puts players into a time-limited position and the fact that there were time-specific events, things were either interesting or frustrating for varied players.

Even so, Capcom is adding a new in-game content wherein players will fill in the shoes of Frank West as he has to survive a zombie infection with only so much time allotted. The content is called "Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising" and here's the description as it shows on the developer's website.

"In this DLC, Frank West is freshly infected and needs to find a cure before he becomes a zombie and is lost forever. While searching for a cure, Frank discovers that everything is not the same as it was; zombies are getting smarter, people cannot be trusted and paramilitary forces are plotting to wipe out Willamette. Frank has a limited time before he reverts to the full zombie state and the city is wiped out. Frank will have to get to the truth first... or die trying."

While not a lot of fans were too happy with the time-restrictions being tucked away for good in the game, adding the time-restriction is a nice touch. However, as it happens, this feature, which is regarded as a "main game mechanic," needs to be paid extra to be obtained.

As it is, some communities may react violently, especially those who loved the time-based events and limitations, but ploughing through N4G's comments sections doesn't exactly indicate that much of a negative feedback. In fact, not a lot of people cares about it being a premium feature.

On the positive side, fans of the series are also just as happy when the time-based limitations were lifted from the game, providing them with more freedom to explore the game's vast open-world envelopes.
