MSI VR One Details: Powerful And Portable VR Machine Now Commercially Available

Virtual reality technology is still pretty much in the infancy stage, with most systems available today being either too restrictive or perhaps too expensive for gamers. Mobile applications are slowly catching up, but they aren't really able to churn out the graphics required for an immersive VR experience. And while PCs are considered the way to go in order to experience true virtual reality, they do have their limitations in terms of mobility. 

MSI seems to want to remedy that problem with a brand new product, which claims to be a machine that will truly bring the VR experience to a whole new level. The new MSI VR One is essentially a portable PC that users can strap on like a backpack. It is also highly touted by the company to be the lightest backpack PC in the world, as compared to other products with the same relative specs.

The MSI VR One essentially allows players to immerse themselves in high-quality, high frame rate virtual reality experiences without being constrained by a rigid plugged-in system. Its system is jam-packed with cool features and high-end hardware, with the entire thing running on a 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and a powerful GeForce GTX 10 series graphics card.

But despite its top-end hardware, MSI assures consumers that the VR One is also one of the quietest machines out there with only a maximum of 40dBA of sound under full load. It also comes with all the ports necessary for different VR peripherals. It is powered by its own battery pack as well, which reportedly lasts up to 90 minutes at full speed VR gaming.

The VR One was originally showcased earlier this year, during the recently held 2016 Computex event in Taiwan. MSI is now offering the backpack to interested buyers with prices starting at $1,999 for the base model, which comes with a GTX 1060 GPU and 6GB of RAM. The top-end model with a GTX 1070 GPU and 8GB of RAM is offered at a higher price of $2,299.
