Zenbo, the home companion robot designed by ASUS, will make a market debut in Taiwan starting January 1. Packed with amazing features, the Taiwan-based manufacturer has expressed high hopes for the device to make it great in the tech market.

The biggest selling points of Zenbo robot include voice-controlled features for food delivery, taxi booking, banking, medicine prescription, music streaming, and online shopping. ASUS is also collaborating with Taiwan's national police agency to enable Zenbo for calls during emergencies.

In addition, it was marketed as a complete companion for kids at home. It can play with children with simple games, read stories, control TV content, and conduct simple home surveillance activities. It has a human fall detection alert, as well as call home cleaning services if needed. Zenbo's body and head were also dotted with sensors to avoid collisions and for facial and object recognition.

The Intel-powered robot was priced at around US$620 for the standard 32GB package, while its 128GB premiere model costs at around USD$780. However, ASUS pointed out that the January release of Zenbo will have limited stocks and will sell on a first-come, first-serve basis only.

Zendo was unveiled at Computex in Taiwan last December 21, less than a month after its open developer program kicked off on November 30. The program allows developer members to search deeper on other potential abilities of Zenbo such as active mobility, 3D vision detection, diverse facial expressions, gestures, and verbal interaction.

During its unveiling at Computex Taiwan, Zenbo performed an actual demo of its superb features and capabilities. However, it may take some time for the home companion robot to make an international debut as ASUS continues to explore the potentials of this device. Other international buyers who want to own the device can only buy it in Taiwan.
