The OnePlus 3 Kernel Can Be Tweaked To Give 7 To 8 Hours Of Screen-On Time

Jan 30, 2017 07:51 PM EST

A screen-on time of seven to eight hours can be achieved on the OnePlus 3 smartphone with regular use which means; radios are on, sync is on, network location and with the right amount of brightness. The only catch though, is the device need to be rooted for users to tweak the kernel, according to Android Authority.

According to the developers of the tweak, this is achieved by modifications made by using an old school governor in the kernel. The tweak is developed specifically for the OnePlus 3 and the Snapdragon 820, although it should also work with any device with any kernel as long as the governor feature is present.

In addition, the seven to eight hours of screen-on time may be extended if users are willing to sacrifice brightness with Wi-Fi only while other features are disabled. However, it is mentioned that this will not apply to heavy gaming, heavy camera use or anything that forces the device to utilize its maximum resources.

Users just need to root their device, and download and install the EX Kernel Manager app. In this app, users may apply the profile that is mentioned in the XDA thread.
