'Vampyr' & 'Call of Cthulhu' Release Coming In Q4 2017; French Team-Developed Titles Show Horror Promise

Both "Vampyr" and "Call of Cthulhu" have been given their respective release periods after an extensive wait. Fans who are looking to get these games may want to take note.

The two games were given the release marker of Q4 2017, after stirring hype in the past. Each of the titles has its own horrific offering to fans of the genre.

According to WCCF Tech, the titular "Vampyr" lets players venture the night as a vampire, taking on the role of doctor Jonathan Reid; caught between a dilemma of saving people and killing for the sake of his own survival. Caught in the middle of the Spanish flu outbreak in 20th century London, players are to make critical choices. They are to decide whether to take human life for their survival, experience and strengths, or to spare them under the discretion of regretting the kill.

A player's action will determine his or her path and fate in "Vampyr," as well as how successful he or she can be with objectives. "Vampyr" is from Dontnod Entertainment, the team behind "Remember Me" and "Life is Strange."

Meanwhile, "Call of Cthulhu" is a mysterious role-playing game from another French team. Cyanide, the developer, is known for its work on "Blood Bowl," "Styx" and, its latest, "Werewolf: The Apocalypse."

The title features lead character Edward Pierce, a private detective given a mission to Darkwater Island, Boston, to search for facts following the death of an artist and her family. Throughout the journey, players will sometimes question their sanity, not recognizing the fine line between reality and imagination.

"Vampyr" and "Call of Cthulhu" will reportedly be available for  PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So far, no other related information has surfaced for both the titles just yet.
