Nike continues to solidify its partnership with Apple via the launch of a sort-of brand new special edition Apple Watch called the Apple Watch NikeLab. The new version comes just seven months after the launch of Apple and Nike's Apple Watch Nike+.
According to GSM Arena, the new watch will be part of Nike's NikeLab range of products, which means that it will only be available in limited quantities and therefore quite exclusive. The watch, however, is basically an Apple Watch Series 2 with a few color variations and some additional apps and functions.
The new Apple Watch NikeLab is technically identical to the Apple Watch Nike+, but is made available in new color options. The original Nike+ variants were available in black or white with "Gatorade" neon accents, while the new NikeLab variant now comes with a new Light Bone colored band and a body made out of Apple's own Space Gray aluminum.
Apart from the color variations, the new NikeLab smartwatch still comes with the same functionalities as the Nike+, which includes the integration with the Nike+ Run Club app and customized Siri commands intended for workouts and sports activities. The watch also comes with GPS and a brighter display than the regular Apple Watch.
ISO Standard 22810:2010 water resistance also comes standard for the Apple Watch NikeLab, which means that it is water resistant up to 50 meters. The smartwatch can be sued for shallow water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and other beach and pool activities. However, Apple disclaims that the watch should not be used for scuba diving or any other activity that involves deep waters or high-velocity water-related activities such as waterskiing or jet skiing.
The Apple Watch NikeLab will be made available as a limited edition product starting on April 27. The watch will initially be made available at an Apple pop-up store inside the Isetan department store in Tokyo.
