Android 4.2: How To Restore Developer Options Settings (Tutorial)

Dec 11, 2012 01:25 PM EST

Google recently launched Nexus devices with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but the search giant hid the developer settings in the latest version of the software. However, now a hack is available that will let interested users restore the Developer Options in the settings menu.

If you've recently bought a Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (32GB), or a Nexus 10 or updated your existing Nexus device to Android 4.2 and want to bring back the Developer Options that are hidden from casual view, then follow the step-by-step guide below.

Restoring the Developer Option in the settings menu is pretty simple and here's how to go about it.

Step 1: Go to the Settings menu and scroll down to About Phone and tap it.

Step 2: Next, scroll down to the bottom to Build Number.

Step 3: Next, tap the Build Number seven times. Post the third tap you will see a message that says you're four taps away from the option.

Step 4: Once the seventh tap is done, a congratulatory message for unlocking the Developer Options will pop up. You now have access to the developer settings back.

With the Developer Options restored on your Nexus device you are now ready to tinker away. However, remember that the Developer Options are usually meant for the developers, but those users who root and fiddle with their Android  devices need access to this menu.

Did you get the Developer Options restored on your Android 4.2 device?
