Galaxy Note 7 (GT-N5100) Pops Up In GLBenchmark Tests

Dec 24, 2012 02:04 PM EST

Samsung's Galaxy line-up of devices is expected to get a facelift in 2013. Rumors have been rife that Samsung is looking to expand its Galaxy portfolio of devices and has a new 7-inch Galaxy Note tablet, in addition to the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 smartphones, in the pipeline.

Earlier in December, the Galaxy Note tablet "GT-N5100" had popped up in the NenaMark benchmark results, and now the mysterious 7-inch tablet has resurfaced, but this time on GLBenchmark.

The GLBenchmark results indicate that the GT-N5100 from Samsung will sport a 1280 x 800 pixels display, a 1.6GHz Exynos 4412 processor. The specifications are similar to those that are on the current version of the Galaxy Tab 7.7. Additionally, the GT-N5100 will come with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, which would likely get an upgrade to Android 4.2.

It is not yet known when the purported 7-inch Galaxy Note tablet will be announced. However, with both CES 2013 and MWC 2013 around the corner, chances are high that Samsung officially unveils the tablet at either of the events.

It would be interesting to see how Samsung would price the Galaxy Note tablet, considering both Acer and Google are rumored to be working on $99 7-inch tablet offerings for 2013.

Apple too is believed to have an iPad mini 2 in the works, so it seems the 7-inch tablet space would be a hotly contested one in 2013. With the Galaxy Note tablet speculated to pack in a stylus as well, a first for a 7-inch tablet, Samsung may just have a slight edge over rivals.
