ASUS Nexus 7 Dock Goes Official: Now Available For $39.99

The Nexus 7 docking station made its first appearance before Christmas last year and reports indicated that the accesory will be available from January this year. Now, the ASUS Shop in the U.K. has begun retailing the Nexus 7 docking station for £24.99, but the accessory is already out of stock.

However, U.S. retailer ExcaliberPC is also selling the docking station online for $39.99 and indicates that it is in stock.

The new docking station provides a landscape docking solution for the Nexus 7 tablet. The dock measures 8.6 x 2.6 x 1.2 inch (219.1 x 65.1 x 30.3 mm) and weighs 9.9 ounces (280 grams).

Users can also charge their Nexus 7 using the docking station which has four pins on the side. The docking station also has audio out via a 3.5mm jack on the rear of the device.

Unfortunately, there is no video connectivity option for the docking station, which means that one cannot use it to play Google Play Store content on a bigger screen. However, the docking station for the Nexus 7 also has microUSB port at the back.

"This dock is tailor-made for Nexus 7. With an attractive design that combines polished glass on the outside and durable-grip rubber on the inside, it simplifies charging via micro USB while you're using the tablet. A dedicated 3.5mm jack permits stereo output through speakers. The entire stand has been built to ensure a comfortable viewing angle for movies, web browsing, social networking, and other typical uses," notes the ASUS Shop (UK).

The docking station is not yet visible on the U.S. ASUS Shop; however, considering that it has hit the company's UK store, it is likely that the Nexus 7 dock will soon make an appearance in the U.S. as well.

Additionally, B&H also lists the dock on its Web site at a price of $39.99 and an expected stock arrival date of Jan. 18.
