Temple Run 2 Sprints To 50 Million Downloads, Becomes Fastest Growing Mobile Game Title
The developers of Temple Run are feeling very satisfied with the release of its sequel to the insanely popular Temple Run title. Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times in less than 2 weeks and it is now the fastest growing mobile game.
Temple Run 2 was released in the Apple App Store on Jan. 17 and shot up the charts very quickly. The mobile game was downloaded over 6 million times in just 24 hours. Temple Run 2 was then released for Android on Jan. 24 and the game has just run over Rovio's Angy Birds Space record of 50 million downloads in 35 days. Temple Run 2 and the original Temple Run are cult-classics on iOS and Android due to its simple, fun, and addictive gameplay, and it doesn't hurt that the game is free either. Imangi released a statement on their new record-breaking game:
"Imangi Studios today announced that Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times on iOS, Android and Kindle devices. Reaching the milestone in 13 days breaks the previously set record for the fastest growing mobile game*... Following a release on Google Play and Amazon Marketplace, the sequel continued its record-breaking success, racing to the #1 spot, respectively, in each store. Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us," says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. "The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time."
Not bad for 2 weeks, right?
