Alexandra BurlacuThe LG G Flex curved-display smartphone may be getting 4K video recording capabilities with an upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat update, according to newly-leaked information.
The wavy LG G Flex is an intrigung smartphone with a curved display, decent specifications and some neat features. The handset runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, and LG has yet to officially confirm whether it will receive an update to Android 4.4 KitKat.
According to newly-leaked information, however, the LG G Flex is set to get a taste of the latest Android treat, which will also bring 4K video recording capabilities. The news comes from Phone Arena, who received a tip from one of its sources.
"One of our loyal readers, who has adorned our in-box with solid information before, has just sent us some great news for those of you with the curvy LG G Flex," the publication reports. "According to our tipster's information, the handset will be able to support 4K video with the upcoming Android 4.4 update."
The report further highlights that the tip was backed up by solid proof, as it was accompanied by a leaked User Agent Profile that showed the handset with 2160p video capability. The tipster also told Phone Arena that the 6-inch curved display smartphone will not support 120fps slow motion video after this update.
The LG G Flex is the first curved-display smartphone to be more widely available, and it comes with some neat specs and features. As a reminder, the handset sports a large 6-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and packs a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz under the hood. Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter, while a 3,500 mAh battery keeps things up and running.
The smartphone also comes with a self-healing back plate, which automatically recovers from small scuffs and scratches that normally occur with daily use. As previously mentioned, the LG G Flex currently runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and a software update is yet to receive official confirmation.
If this report turns out to be true, Android 4.4 KitKat may roll out soon to the LG G Flex and bring 4K video recording capabilities along with it. As always with leaks and speculation, however, take this news with a grain of salt.
