T-Mobile has apparently received more than 300,000 pre-registrations for the Samsung Galaxy S5 already, suggesting strong demand for Samsung's new flagship smartphone.

Samsung took the wraps off its latest Galaxy S5 flagship back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 last month. The Galaxy S5 was among the most highly-anticipated devices to come out in 2014 and while its design disappointed some, the handset seems to be in high demand already.

Just recently, T-Mobile has announced that it had received over 100,000 pre-registrations for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Fast forward to present date, the numbers have now increased considerably. According to the latest figures, T-Mobile has now received more than 300,000 pre-registrations for the device, and the number is constantly increasing.

Many Samsung fans were disappointed by the Galaxy S5's design, criticizing Samsung for using the same-old plastic material instead of going for a more premium metal build. Despite the criticism, however, it seems that there are still many consumers out there who can't wait to get their hands on a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5.

The news comes from Des Smith, T-Mobile's "Sr. Product Guy and Tech Evangelist," as he describes himself on Twitter.

It's worth emphasizing, however, that T-Mobile's reported figures are for pre-registrations, i.e. people who have registered their interest in the device in order to receive more information as it becomes available. Pre-registrations are not pre-orders and they involve no commitment, which means that not all 300,000+ people who pre-registered will actually purchase the Samsung Galaxy S5. Nonetheless, more than 300,000 people interested in the Galaxy S5 on a single carrier indicate that the handset may be off to a strong start when it officially hits retail.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S5 boasts a 5.1-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, packs a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, and a microSD card slot that will support up to 128GB of additional memory. Other specs include a 16-megapixel camera with 4K video recording capabilities, front shooter for video calls, and a 2,800 mAh battery. The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner, is dust- and water-resistant, and rocks the very latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available for purchase in 150 countries starting from April, hitting several carriers and retailers.
