T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 to be available only in 16GB model in-store
Alexandra BurlacuT-Mobile will reportedly sell only the 16GB of the new Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone in-store, while the 32GB model will be available exclusively online.
The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to launch on April 11 in nearly 150 countries across the world. Currently there are no official details regarding the exact launch date, pricing, or availability of the Galaxy S5 from U.S. carriers, but a new leak now gives some details about the T-Mobile version.
Android Central has received an alleged T-Mobile internal document, showing that the Magenta carrier will only sell the 16GB Samsung Galaxy S5 in its retail stores. Prospected customers who want the larger-capacity model will be able to order the 32GB version of the smartphone online only.
It's worth pointing out, however, that the accuracy of this leaked documentation has not been confirmed, and no official information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 is currently available from U.S. carriers.
Samsung's latest flagship smartphone made its official debut back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, sporting some notable improvements over its predecessor. While the design didn't change much, to the disappointment of many Samsung fans who were hoping for a metal-clad smartphone, the Galaxy S5 does pack a punch.
In terms of specifications, the new Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a slightly larger 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and it packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz under the hood. Other specs include a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a powerful 2,800 mAh removable battery.
The new flagship smartphone from Samsung also comes with several neat new features, including a fingerprint scanner embedded into its home button. Samsung has also made its Galaxy S5 more rugged with certification for dust- and water-resistance. A slew of Samsung-exclusive goodies will also be on board, as expected.
In the U.S., the new Samsung Galaxy S5 will become available from major carriers, including T-Mobile, starting in April.
The Magenta carrier is not taking pre-orders for the smartphone yet, but it has set up a pre-registration page. Moreover, prospective buyers who register their interest for the Galaxy S5 on T-Mobile also get a chance to win the smartphone and an S-View Flip Cover. The sweepstakes is only available for U.S. residents. Pre-registering doesn't mean you actually commit to buying the smartphone when it becomes available, but it will allow T-Mobile to send you more details regarding the Galaxy S5 as it gets closer to launch.
