LG G Watch officially detailed, coming in Champagne Gold and Stealth Black color options
Alexandra BurlacuGoogle has recently unveiled its Android Wear operating system (OS) for wearable devices and LG has now offered more details and images of its upcoming LG G Watch.
The wearable tech market is on the rise and more heavy players are expected to launch smartwatches and other wearable devices this year, heating up competition even further. Samsung has already launched two smartwatches and a smart fitness band, Apple is widely rumored to release an iWatch later this year, while Google unveiled its Android Wear OS and announced initial collaborations with LG and Motorola, both of which will launch smartwatches running its new OS.
Android Wear is specifically designed to work with wearable devices such as smartwatches, and LG is expected to unleash its LG G Watch this summer. Aside from its OS, details were pretty sparse regarding the LG G Watch, but the company has now offered more information and also posted several photos of the device.
According to LG's official website, its upcoming LG G Watch will be available in two colors when it makes its debut: Champagne Gold and Stealth Black. The gadget will also come with two rubber straps, which may not look elegant and formal to some, but the smartwatch does seem comfortable to wear.
LG further touted that its upcoming LG G Watch will have always-on functionality and its display will always show the time without requiring users to press any button. The Samsung Gear 2, for instance, goes off when not in use and turns back on when it detects arm movement.
The LG G Watch will also be both dust- and water resistant, which is great news for consumers looking for a durable and reliable device that can withstand daily wear and tear without breaking. Dust- and water-resistance have become two very important features in today's highly-competitive tech industry, and an increasing number of high-end smartphones are offering this increased ruggedness. Extending this ruggeness to smartwatches as well will surely make them even more attractive.
When it comes to pricing and availability, however, LG has yet to offer any specific details. It remains unknown at this point just when exactly the device will hit the market, in what regions it will be available, or how much it will cost, but LG should provide more information soon enough. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more. In the meantime, head over to LG's website at this link and check out the upcoming LG G Watch.
