Samsung Galaxy F (S5 Prime) spotted in the wild, boasts brushed metal design

The much-rumored Samsung Galaxy F, also referred to as the Galaxy S5 Prime, has leaked yet again, this time spotted in the wild with its brushed metal design.

This purported model has leaked so far with various names, including the Galaxy F, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5 Prime, and S5 LTE-A, as well as model number SM-G750. While Samsung is notorious for its love of plastic even in top-end devices, this upcoming model is expected to finally boast a more premium metal design.

Unlike the previous renders claiming to show off the purported Galaxy F, or Galaxy S5 Prime, the newly-leaked image seems to show the device in the wild, not for press purposes. While this is no guarantee that it is the real deal, it does make it all more believable.

PhoneArena was the one to post this image, claiming to have received it from an anonymous tipster. The device shown in this photo looks nearly identical to the existing Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship, but it does reveal some noticeable differences in terms of design.

First of all, the handset shown in this photo seems to have a brushed metal rear panel, as opposed to the textured, band aid-like plastic panel of the original Galaxy S5. Moving on to the front of the purported device, the bezels around the display seem to be ultra-thin, notably thinner than the ones on the original model, and the handset seems taller than 5 inches. Moreover, the USB port on the rear appears to have a flap, which indicates that the upcoming model will be water-resistant as well. The fingerprint reader and the heart-rate monitor are also expected to be on board the new model.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy F, or Galaxy S5 Prime, is expected to boast a larger 5.3- or 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440. Other rumored specs include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor under the hood, 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

None of this is confirmed at this point, but the company will be hosting a press event in just a couple of days. Samsung's event is scheduled for June 12, when it is widely expected to take the wraps off its much-rumored Galaxy Tab S lineup of tablets with AMOLED displays and top-notch specs. The company may use the same event to unveil the more premium Galaxy S5 as well, but it all remains in the rumor state for now.  We'll be covering the event and bring you the latest news as soon as they become available, so stay tuned.
