Moto 360 goes on sale, runs out of stock in no time
Alexandra BurlacuMotorola has finally made its Moto 360 smartwatch official and available for purchase, but great demand has already cleared initial stock.
The Android Wear-powered Moto 360 smartwatch from Motorola was one of the most highly-anticipated devices of this year, as eager fans have been waiting for months for the gadget to become official. The Moto 360 first surfaced back in March and was pegged to launch "later this summer," and it was only at IFA 2014 on Sept. 5 that Motorola formally introduced its smart gadget.
Motorola's Moto 360 drew a lot of interest due to its classical look with a circular form factor, as opposed to the bulkier smartwatches out there that sport a rectangular design. The Moto 360 looks more like a regular watch, yet boasts all of the high-end features of a smartwatch.
The gadget is also made out of premium materials and delivers some great functionality, and is seen as one of the best wearable devices currently available on the market. With such great anticipation after a long wait, the Moto 360 finally went on sale on Friday, Sept. 5, but it already appears as out of stock.
In other words, the Moto 360 flew off the shelves in no time, running out of stock quickly after it became available for purchase. This may mean that Motorola failed to properly prepare itself for the great demand for its wearable and didn't have enough units available at launch, or consumers were just too eager to get their hands on a new Moto 360 smartwatch that stock vanished in no time. Either way, it seems that interested buyers may have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on a Moto 360.
Motorola has yet to mention when it will make more Moto 360 units available, but it shouldn't be too long. The Moto 360 is retailing through the Motorola website, the Google Play store at this link, as well as Best Buy. Currently only Best Buy seems to still have some stock of the Moto 360, but it lists in-store availability only.
Motorola should replenish stock soon, so check back on the company's website, Google Play, or Best Buy to see when the Moto 360 becomes available for purchase again. For more information on the Moto 360's specs, features, as well as a demo video, check out our earlier report at this link.
