Nokia Lumia 735, Lumia 830 ‘coming soon’ to the U.S.
Alexandra BurlacuNokia recently launched its latest Windows Phone smartphones, the Lumia 735 and the Lumia 830, and it now seems the handsets are "coming soon" to the U.S. as well.
When Microsoft-owned Nokia officially unveiled its latest Lumia smartphones a couple of days ago, it remained unclear when or if the handsets will make their way to U.S. shores.
The company has still not made any official announcement in this regards, but the Nokia U.S. website now lists both the Lumia 735 and the Lumia 830 as "coming soon." No exact launch date is available, but both devices are expected to hit retail later this month.
The Lumia 730 made its debut at the same time as the 735 and the 830 models, but this variant will apparently not make it to the U.S. Considering that the Lumia 730 is dual-SIM and with HSPA+ connectivity, however, it's not a big surprise that it's not bound for the North American market. Dual-SIM support may be in high demand in other parts of the world, but the U.S. never had a soft spot for it. The Lumia 735 is virtually identical in terms of specs to the Lumia 730, but comes with LTE connectivity and single-SIM support, so it makes sense that this variant will be the one to grace the U.S.
It remains unclear at this point just which carriers will be offering the Nokia Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 once they are ready to make their commercial debut in the U.S., but more information should become available shortly in this regards. The two smartphones are also expected to be available unlocked and contract-free from the Microsoft Store, but subsidized options should nonetheless be on the table.
As a reminder, the Nokia Lumia 735 "selfie phone" sports a 4.7-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. Other specs include 8GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory, a 6.7-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,200 mAh battery to keep things up and running. On the software side, the handset comes with the Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Denim update.
The affordable Lumia 830 flagship, meanwhile, features a 5-inch display with HD resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, a 10-megapixel rear camera with PureView technology and Carl Zeiss optics, and a 2,200 mAh battery.
While Nokia doesn't list a specific launch date for the Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 smartphones in the U.S., interested customers can sign up here to receive more details once they become available.
