Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon ultrabook officially debuts ahead of CES 2015
Alexandra BurlacuLenovo has just announced a number of new laptops and accessories ahead of CES 2015, including the top-notch ThinkPad X1 Carbon powerhouse.
On Monday, Jan. 5, Lenovo unveiled eight new laptops as part of its ThinkPad E, ThinkPad T, ThinkPad L, and ThinkPad X lineups. All models rock Intel's fifth-generation Broadwell Core processors under the hood, but the highlight is the 2015 ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The company is also celebrating an impressive milestone, as it has reached 100 million ThinkPads sold since the original ThinkPad 700.
Lenovo has come a long way since then, and the latest ThinkPad X1 Carbon comes with top-notch specs and features all around. The device sports a 14-inch display with a choice of full HD or WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, as well as touchscreen options. The new model also comes with a redesigned touch pad with right and left buttons, and it also features dedicated functional keys, unlike its predecessor.
Other specs of the new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon include up to 8GB of RAM, internal storage configurations between 128GB and 320GB, and an optional LTE modem. In terms of design, the laptop comes with a sleek, stylish carbon fiber build that weighs 1.2kg and measures just 18.5mm in thickness.
"The third generation state-of-the-art X1 Carbon continues the tradition of ThinkPad brand equity. The lightest 14" performance ultrabook in the world features new options like a super bright FHD display for the best viewing experience and a PCle solid state drive for up to 80% faster storage than standard SSDs," Lenovo touts in a press release on Monday, Jan. 5.
"The newest X1 Carbon is also the most mobile ever, with even longer battery life and still weighing under 2.9 pounds with a durable and rugged carbon-forged chassis. Coupled with 5th Generation Intel Core processors and a whole suite of accessories to optimize the experience, the X1 Carbon permeates the ThinkPad heritage and continues to inspire relentless innovation."
"The updated ThinkPad portfolio for 2015 highlights expanded business-class features and builds on the legacy of ThinkPad DNA: thin and light, with extended battery life to maximize mobility, and bright and clear displays up to 3K resolution for optimum viewing pleasure and ergonomic comfort."
The new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon will hit commercial availability in the U.S. in January, sporting a starting price of $1,249. More details will become available closer to launch, but check out the video below in the meantime.
