Dell UltraSharp 34 curved monitor officially unveiled, launching on Jan. 8 for $1,200
Alexandra BurlacuDell is the latest company to unveil a curved monitor, announcing the new UltraSharp 34 at the CES 2015 trade show in Las Vegas.
Curved monitors seem to be a hot new trend, with several companies already joining the party with arguably enticing offerings, and more are expected to join the fray this year. Dell has decided to join the race as well, unveiling a new 34-inch monitor with a curved screen for a superior viewing experience.
The new Dell UltraSharp 34 was first teased a few months ago and it's now finally official, arriving as one of the first curved monitors to hit the market. The UltraSharp 34 is set to hit commercial availability on Thursday, Jan. 8, sporting quite a hefty price tag of $1,999.99.
As the name itself suggests, the new Dell UltraSharp 34 sports a 34-inch screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio, which is the "ideal size for a curved monitor," according to the company. The UltraSharp 34 boasts a WQHD resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels and includes all of the neat features expected from such high-end monitors, such as HDMI ports, 9-watt speakers, thin bezels, and more. An "immersive panoramic experience" is also in the mix, as is superior audio quality, Dell further touted.
"Users will enter new dimensions of gaming and multi-tasking with an immersive, panoramic, curved screen that surrounds the senses with amazingly detailed WQHD resolution. At 34 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio, the U3415W is the ideal size for a curved monitor," Dell boasts in the press release. "The curved screen optimizes the field of view and minimizes eye movement to deliver a more comfortable viewing experience than a flat screen. Rich and engaging sound from the powerful 18W integrated speakers transports users further into the digital world, while connectivity features support multiple monitors and peripherals for massive screen real estate."
When it comes to pricing and availability, the new Dell UltraSharp 34 will go on sale on Dell.com later this week, on Jan. 8, with a $1,200 price tag.
