Sony Xperia E4g officially debuts with two-day battery life, ‘super-fast 4G LTE connectivity’ (VIDEO)
Alexandra BurlacuSony unveiled an entry-level Xperia E4 smartphone earlier this month, and now the company has unveiled a 4G variant called the Xperia E4g.
The new version of the smartphone is similar to the original Xperia E4, albeit it comes with a smaller 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. This also means it has different dimensions, as the Xperia E4g measures 133 x 71 x 10.8mm instead of the 137 x 74.6 x 10.5mm dimensions of the original Xperia E4.
"Earlier this month, Sony Mobile Communications ("Sony Mobile") introduced XperiaTM E4; the affordable, easy-to-use smartphone with great battery life - in a quality Sony design. Now, Sony unveils the exciting XperiaTM E4g smartphone, offering the same ease-of-use and powerful battery performance - with fast 4G LTE connectivity," Sony touts in a new company blog post on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
"Xperia E4 set out to bring many of the premium features people expect of Sony to lower-tier devices; Xperia E4g brings that same quality and ease of use - but with super-fast 4G LTE connectivity" said Tony McNulty, Vice President, Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications. "With simple set-up and unrivalled 2 day battery life, we believe both models represent value for those who want premium Sony technology and experiences often only associated with high-end devices."
In addition to 4G LTE connectivity, the new Sony Xperia E4g also packs a slightly more powerful quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, compared to the 1.3GHz SoC of the original Xperia E4.
In terms of design, the Xperia E4g features Sony's OmniBalance signature design and is perfect for one-hand usage, according to the company.
"Available in classic Black and White, Xperia E4g retains that timeless Xperia form - a precision-cut power to add an extra layer of premium," Sony further touts.
It's worth pointing out, however, that the Xperia E4g will not make its way to the U.S. either. The handset will hit commercial availability in select markets in April, sporting a price tag of roughly €129 (about $145) before taxes and subsidies. Just like the original Xperia E4, the new Xperia E4g variant will also come in a dual-SIM version. Timing, availability, and pricing may vary depending on market.
In the meantime, check out the video below to see the new Sony Xperia E4g in action.
