BlackBerry Classic Non Camera goes up for pre-order as Verizon exclusive – Pricing & Availability
Alexandra BurlacuA new BlackBerry Classic Non Camera version is now official, going up for pre-order in the U.S. as an exclusive to Verizon Wireless.
The QWERTY BlackBerry Classic has proved to be quite popular since its debut back in December 2014, as many BlackBerry fans appreciate the iconic design that consecrated the company's smartphones.
BlackBerry, however, has long focused on offering devices suitable for enterprises, and security has been a top priority. Considering that some companies or organizations do not allow employees to bring smartphones with cameras to the office due to the potential of leaking sensitive information, the new BlackBerry Classic Non Camera may be the perfect solution.
Except for the obvious difference that the BlackBerry Classic Non Camera can't take photos, this new variant shares virtually identical specifications with the original model. The smartphone sports a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels (294 ppi) and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor under the hood, clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. The handset further features 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 2,500 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, and Glonass.
When it comes to software, the BlackBerry Classic Non Camera runs the recently-released BlackBerry 10.3.1 OS, with all of its neat features and improvements. This means that it comes pre-loaded with a slew of apps and features including BlackBerry Assistant, BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Blend, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), BlackBerry World, Amazon Appstore, as well as Adobe Reader, Dropbox, Evernote, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
"The BlackBerry Classic Non Camera features a physical keyboard and familiar navigation keys, with the power of the BlackBerry 10 operating system. Stay productive with a unified inbox, fast web browser and a battery that puts in the hours, as well as plenty of Android apps for work and play. The BlackBerry Classic Non Camera comes in 16GB and is available in black. (Subject to availability)," Verizon touts on the BlackBerry Classic Non Camera pre-order page.
In terms of pricing and availability, the BlackBerry Classic sports a $99.99 price tag with a two-year contract, $16.66 per month with Verizon Wireless, or $399.99 outright, contract-free. According to Verizon, the smartphone should become available on March 31.
