MWC 2015: Meet the sleek and powerful Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet (VIDEO)
Alexandra BurlacuThe new Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is now official, as it just made its debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015.
The tablet's arrival is not a big surprise considering that Sony had already teased plans to unveil its new Xperia Z4 Tablet at MWC, but the announcement now formally details the device's specs and features.
According to Sony, its latest Xperia Z4 Tablet is the "world's thinnest and slimmest 10" tablet," boasting a sleek design that makes it highly portable, yet packing powerful specs nonetheless.
"Delivering a best in class entertainment experience thanks to the world's brightest 10.1-inch 2K display of the leading tablets and long battery life (up to 17 hours of video playback), the beautifully crafted Xperia Z4 Tablet is an impressively powerful Android tablet that delivers all the portable performance you need for an entertaining and busy lifestyle," Sony touted in a press release.
"Building on the success of its predecessor, we wanted to take all of the qualities that consumers loved most in Xperia Z2 Tablet and enhance them for Z4 Tablet," said Dennis van Schie, SVP of Sales & Marketing at Sony Mobile. "Consumers appreciate innovation most when it can bring real value to their lives, so we have carefully crafted and considered every aspect of Z4 Tablet to meet even the most demanding lifestyle. Sleek and lightweight, yet incredibly powerful, with standout entertainment and smart productivity features, Xperia Z4 Tablet is an extraordinary tablet that fits perfectly into your day-to-day life."
In terms of design, the new Xperia Z4 Tablet is reminiscent of last year's Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, sporting the same form factor with rounded edges and a slim profile.
When it comes to specs, the Xperia Z4 Tablet boasts a 10.1-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and comes as the first tablet to pack the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, paired with Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The tablet further features 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5.1-megapixel front shooter, and a 6,000 mAh battery with Sony's Battery STAMINA Mode. The slate is also dust-tight and water-resistant, boasting IP65 and IP68 ratings.
The new Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet will come in both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models and will make its global debut starting in June. The company has yet to offer exact pricing and availability details, but should provide more information closer to launch.
